Ingrid Johnston, M.S., LMFTA

Ingrid Johnston is a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate who works with individuals, couples, children/adolescence and families to bring about change. She believes in the process of therapy and in the client’s ability to heal. She aims to come along side you, find meaningful goals and facilitate the change you desire. Working holistically she will attend to issues through the lens of the body, mind, emotions, spirit, relationships and sexuality.

Ingrid completed her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy with Seattle Pacific University. She specialized in a certificate course for Medical Family Therapy and Collaborative Medicine completing an internship with Swedish Primary Care facilities. She has experience working with relational distress between parents/children and in couples. She also works with depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain and traumatic health conditions. As a systems therapist she utilizes Family Systems perspective attending to the way your family of origin has shaped or is shaping your difficulties. Ingrid will also attend to the problem story that has been repeated in your life and help you find a preferred and useful story to begin living from. Ingrid has experience with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and finds these therapeutic modalities useful for building practical skills and change into your life. She is trained in Gottman Level 1 Couples Therapy. She is continuing education in Emotion Focused Therapy and in the process of becoming AASECT certified (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists).

Ingrid has enjoyed a career including time living and working in other cultures and working with family’s at Seattle Children’s Hospital in multiple capacities. She loves to travel and experience the local culture of new places. In her downtime she enjoys biking, swimming, yoga and lingering meals with friends and family.
