Rick Monce, MA, LMFT

Rick Monce received his B.A. in psychology from the University of Washington and his M.A. in Child, Couple, and Family Therapy from Antioch University Seattle. He has worked with adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of educational, residential, and clinical settings. In addition to maintaining a private practice, Rick has worked as a youth and family therapist at Youth Eastside Services, as a school based counselor in both the Bellevue and Lake Washington School Districts, and as a counselor and facilitator at The Moyer Foundation's Camp Mariposa.

Rick takes a holistic view of individuals, which is to say that he views each person as a unique construction of their experiences of family, community, and culture. He considers these factors as well as developmental, emotional and spiritual themes as pathways for understanding personal hardships and for facilitating meaningful, long-term change. As your therapist, he aims to provide a safe, confidential setting for trust to develop, and in the process of therapy, he utilizes professional judgment to assess, support, and advocate on behalf of your targeted goals and intentions for counseling.

As an individual and couples therapist, Rick utilizes clinical techniques from a variety of schools of thought, ranging from humanistic psychology to evidence-based practices, in addition to mindfulness and meditative practices. He has completed Level 2 in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy certification program and his focus areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Adolescents and young adults
  • Anxiety
  • Coping skills
  • Couples Counseling
  • Depression
  • Healing from sexual abuse and trauma
