Andrea Neal, Ph.D.

Dr. Andrea Neal is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in cognitive-behavioral (CBT) and mindfulness-based treatments for adults. She has been providing individual and group psychotherapy in the Seattle area as a licensed psychologist for over eight years. After graduating from the University of Montana with a PhD in Clinical Psychology, she trained in psychosocial rehabilitation at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System, conducting individual and group therapy for bipolar disorder and psychotic disorders. Upon returning to the Pacific Northwest, she gained advanced training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) in a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle (EBTCS). She continued on as staff psychologist at EBTCS, primarily working within the DBT clinic conducting individual therapy, leading skills groups, and providing consultation and supervision to colleagues and post-doctoral fellows. She has worked at the University of Washington on a number of research trials, and she has supervised psychology graduate students. Dr. Neal provided individual therapy as a research therapist in the Behavioral and Research Therapy Clinics of the University of Washington on two separate NIMH studies of DBT. In addition, she led Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) groups in relapse prevention for substance abuse in a NIDA trial with the Addictive Behaviors Research Center of the University of Washington. Her therapy approach emphasizes evidence-based practices.
