Matthew Ponsford, Psy.D., LMHCA

Dr. Matthew Ponsford received his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology and M.A. in Psychology from Antioch University Seattle, and his B.A. from Northwest Nazarene University. He has extensive experience working with adolescents and adults and a variety of settings, including community counseling centers, college counseling centers, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. He completed an APPIC internship at the Western Washington University Counseling Center, working with a diverse population of young adults.

Dr. Ponsford practices an integrative approach to therapy that draws from relational, mindfulness, and existential perspectives. He takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach to working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, or facing difficult life transitions. He has a particular interest in working with clients around questions about identity, including career, culture, gender, and sexuality. Dr. Ponsford also has a strong interest in working with clients around issues related to the use of technology, including compulsive or excessive use of the Internet or video games.
