Heather Siegel, ARNP, PMHNP

Heather Siegel, ARNP, PMHNP, is a psychiatric nurse practitioner who sees adults, teens, and children, offering both psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy. Ms. Siegel earned her post-masters in psychiatric advanced practice nursing from the University of Washington in Seattle and her master of science in nursing from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Her psychiatric clinical rotations have included Therapeutic Health Services in Seattle, which offers a novel evidence-based substance abuse treatment program for young adults. She also interned at Navos, in several of their outpatient, supportive living programs for people living with chronic mental illness. Her inpatient clinical rotation was at Harborview Medical Center including Psychiatric Emergency Service. Her final outpatient clinical rotation was at Child Strive in Snohomish County, a nonprofit offering the Nurse Family Partnership program to at-risk families. NFP is a highly effective evidence-based intervention to improve behavioral and emotional well-being in children by offering in home nursing support to mothers. Prior to her pivot into psychiatric and mental health, Ms Siegel practiced as a nurse midwife and family nurse practitioner in Tacoma and Pierce County.

As a prescriber of psychiatric medications, Ms Siegel prioritizes thorough assessment, close listening, and client education and choice in the care that she delivers. She uses genetic medicine where appropriate and encourages integrative and functional medicine approaches where they may be valuable. As a therapist, Ms Siegel draws from cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, solution-focused and mindfulness-based modalities, as well as motivational interviewing. With regards to child and family therapy, she is trained in Parent Child Interaction Therapy and Promoting First Relationships. She has recently completed advanced training in Lifespan Integration, and is currently pursuing certification in Contemplative Psychology, which examines the intersection between Buddhist philosophy and Western psychology.

A special interest of Ms Siegel's is providing pharmacologic management and psychotherapy for pregnant, post-partum, or breastfeeding mothers. Other areas of interest and expertise include:
